Always and always facing toward the Light

Celebrating the life of Leicester based suffragette Alice Hawkins, this 30 min show was staged in New Market square - the very location where she addressed large crowds 100 years ago.

We brought together 2 principal actors, a 40 piece community choir and 16 female interviewees to bring Alice’s story to life and add a contemporary perspective to her remarkable achievements. 

Always and always facing toward the Light was performed 3 times on the night of Sunday 3rd March 2019 and was enjoyed by audiences totalling approx 5,000. It was part of the Centenary Cities scheme funded by the Government Equalities Office and Leicester City Council.
